Pima County Board of Supervisors Approves Adamson-Catino Trail

At its Board meeting on January 20, the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved accepting a donation of a trail easement from Farmers Investment Co. (FICO) that would connect the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historical Trail’s Abrego Trailhead with the county’s Canoa Preserve Community Park. FICO also request that the new trail segment be named after longtime community leaders Bill Adamson and Chuck Catino.

FICO Schedules Neighborhood Meeting for July 1

FICO is holding a neighborhood meeting on Sahuarita Farms on Tuesday July 1. The meeting address the following topics:

Minor General Plan Amendment: FICO and the Town of Sahuarita are proposing to modify the Town’s General Plan to provide for the implementation of the Sahuarita Farms Land/ River Master Plan.  Click here to download a map.

Specific Plan: A Specific Plan Zoning request to change the zoning of the property from Rural Homestead (RH) to Specific Plan (SP) to allow for a mixed-use master plan community called Sahuarita Farms. The Specific Plan Zoning is a request by FICO. Click here to download the specific plan.

Below are the particulars for the meeting.

When:        Tuesday, July 1, 2014, 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Where:       Sahuarita Council Chambers, 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, AZ

Pima County Board of Supervisors Unanimously Approve Continental Farms Specific Plan

On Tuesday, March 11, 2014, the Pima County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the Continental Farms Specific Plan after a public hearing.

Open House Scheduled for Continental Farms Specific Plan

Please join Farmers Investment Co. (FICO) for an open house on the Specific Plan for Continental Farms. This open house specifically addresses the FICO land that is in unincorporated Pima County.

This is an opportunity for neighbors to learn more about the Specific Plan FICO has submitted to Pima County and plans for future development.

2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Where: Rec. Center, La Posada, (next door to 501 S. La Posada Circ.

Key Green Valley Council committee unanimously approves Continental Farms Specific Plan

The Green Valley Council’s Architecture and Planning Committee unanimously approved a favorable recommendation of the Continental Farms Specific Plan. After this action FICO resubmitted this Specific Plan to Pima County for consideration by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.

During the meeting, participants discussed a wide-range of topics related to the project including water availability, recreational areas and the myriad of opportunities for community improvement that this project will deliver to the region.

The Pima County Loop – What’s Possible for Sahuarita Farms

A key element of the Sahuarita Farms Land and River Master Plan is establishing the Santa Cruz River as the heart of the community with a safe, accessible and integrated network of trails focused around a linear non-motorized river trail.

Pima County has established the Loop, which really demonstrates the significant community benefits of utilizing our river corridors for non-motorized uses. Watch this video to learn more.

Press Release: FICO, Pima County Discussions Laying Groundwork for Anza Trail Connection

(Sahuarita, Ariz.)  Farmers Investment Co. (FICO) and Pima County are engaged in discussions that will lead to 1.9 miles of a trail easement connecting the Canoa Preserve Community Park to the Anza Trail.

The easement would allow for a designated route through the FICO pecan orchards offering a safe, non-vehicular connection for hiking, cycling, and equestrian traffic between the park and the trail. (more…)
